Rippled Ash Bowl

Ref ID: 5748

Rippled figuring in ash is rare but stunning when it does occur. The simple yet classic shape to this bowl shows off the grain beautifully. It also has a feature knot and a small rounded foot.

Ash is the 4th most common tree found in the British Isles. In British folklore it was known for it's protective and healing properties, particularly in relation to children. To cure broken limbs or rickets children were passed naked through a split in an ash tree. It was also used by anglo-saxons for spears and shield handles.
