Ladybird Beads

Handmade with love in Epping, Essex

Ladybird Beads popped into existence in 2009 when I needed some way to use up the millions of beads I’d fallen in love with, and it became clear that I either had to sell some jewellery or move the children into the shed. A magpie by nature, I collect and hoard things that catch my eye in case inspiration strikes later, and I'm inspired by anything and everything, from the Forest where I live to 1970s TV icons, and believe that every piece I make has a home waiting for it somewhere....

I like to wear jewellery that isn’t mass produced and has an element of personality to it, that can be dressed up or down depending on how you feel. I love using British sea glass, upcycled game pieces, glass beads, acrylic and Lucite charms to create unusual items, and am also working with people’s own photographs to create truly personal items of jewellery. I’m always happy to discuss custom items or alterations to existing pieces – the wonderful thing about handmade jewellery is that it is always unique!

I fit jewellery making, other crafts and getting out and about to markets around looking after my kids and a nearly-full-time job in a museum.
