Skilt make high quality, innovative kilts in London’s Bethnal Green using locally sourced fabrics and trimmings. Based on the traditional kilt these garments have some unique features including sewn in symmetrical pleats that will never fall out; large removable pockets that can be placed on the sides or at the front; plenty of waist adjustment to accommodate your winter reserves and summer 6 pack; and a choice of stylish fabrics.
Skilt was born in 2007 when engineer Richard Evans-Lacey first learned to thread a sewing machine. 6 hours later he was the proud owner of his first hand made contemporary kilt made out of pinstripe denim. People loved the design and so Richard continued to make prototypes until he evolved the design you see today. Skilts have been featured by Tate Modern, London Alternative Fashion Week, The Clothes Show Live, and Channel 4’s ‘The Wedding House’.
Skilts symbolise the transformation from macho man to mature masculine. They are worn with pride by men of all nationalities.
Our standard length is 23 inches; to check how this would look on you we recommend folding a towel over to this length, wrapping it around yourself and standing well back from a mirror. There is no ‘correct’ length, anything from the top of the knee cap to just below can look good … it’s down to personal preference and how high you wear the waist band. Please measure your waist rather than relying on your trouser size. Small/Medium fits waists from 31’’ to 38’’. Medium/Large fits waists from 36’’ to 44’’.
