Mortimer Fun Day |
|
Saturday 3rd July 2010 |
The Mortimer Fun Day is a joint event organised by Mortimer Village Partnership and Together In Mission (TIM) and is held on the Fairground in Mortimer Common, just south of Reading. First held in 2009 it is an opportunity for the whole village, and people from surrounding villages, to get involved, come together, have a lot of fun and raise money for charity. It starts at 11am with a children's Fancy Dress competition; there are a number of displays in the arena including Hawks and dog agility; a fantastic dance display by local troupe 'The Anne Fraser Theatre Dance Company'; brass bands, harpists and other musicians; Children's Activity Tent, Treaure Hunt and Trail, Bouncy castle, Human Table Football; Market Row stallholders; local charities and interest groups, Food, teas and coffees, ice creams and a bar; to name but a few of the activities and events going on. Activities finish at 5pm but there is then a Worship Service at 6pm and the opportunity to linger over a glass of wine or beer into the evening. Funds raised go to charity - last year the bulk went to The Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust and donations were also made to Mortimer First Responders and to a project at The Willink School. This year's recipient is yet to be decided. |
