Your wedding day will be one of the most special days of your life. That being said, it can also be incredibly stressful. Whether you are planning your own wedding or working with an event coordinator, the following list contains things that you will want to make sure are present on the big day.

 1. Photographer

From the “I dos” to the first dance, you will want to make sure that your wedding is properly documented. Visit different photographers and find one that shares your vision. Hire one that will photograph both the wedding and the actual reception to make sure all the best moments are captured. It is definitely an expense that is worth the cost. Don’t count on cell phone pics – you and your guests will appreciate having high-quality professional photographs to look back on the special day.

2. Entertainment

The same as a photographer, shop around before you commit to one form of entertainment. You can go to different gigs and determine what kind of band or DJ is best for your wedding. The day is about you and your spouse, but it is worth considering entertainment that will appeal to your guests. After all, you want everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves.

3. Caterer

Your caterer will likely have most of the food taken care of, but it is important that you communicate the details of your reception. Is there anything you need to bring that they don’t provide? Are there any special dietary restrictions for your guests? Is your venue inside or outside? Does it have the amenities that the catering company needs to set up?

Also, consider everything that the company can do for you to get the most out of the experience. Some companies allow clients to stray away from the typical 3-course meal, so choose this option if you are looking for a more modern approach. If they have them, you can even request biodegradable packaging and catering equipment if you want to be eco-friendly.

4. Flowers

Flowers are traditional for most weddings, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add your own style. Choose a florist that will accommodate your budget and bring your ideas to life. Browse through magazines or online for inspiration to find the best arrangements.

The next two items are simple things that you can bring the day of. They are small additions to your to-do list that have the potential to make your wedding much less stressful.

 5. Contact Sheet

There are usually many people involved in making a wedding run smoothly. Photographers capture all the big moments, caterers feed you and your guests, and bands provide entertainment. Whoever you enlist to work your wedding should be on time and allow you to enjoy your day.

There is always the possibility, however, that something comes up or they are running late. Hopefully, you won't run into this problem, but it is comforting to know that you can easily contact them. Make sure you have up-to-date phone numbers of everyone working the event stored in your phone or written on a sheet of paper. This way, you won't be struggling to find a phone number and can effectively communicate with whoever you need to.

6. Emergency Kit

Although a first-aid kit isn't a bad idea, this item refers to items that will help the day run smoothly. There are dozens of things you could pack in a wedding day emergency kit that could end up being useful. Light snacks and bottles of water will keep you feeling energised and refreshed. Basic sewing supplies can be used to snip loose threads or repair minor tears. Hygiene products, pain relievers, and extra makeup are also practical.
