A pretty and unusual pendant made from a fragment of old blue and white ceramic mounted in rows of hand stitched vintage and modern beads. The fragment of ceramic was found on a local beach in North Devon where it had washed out of the sea. I believe it is the edge of a Willow Pattern plate, quite old and worn smooth. The pattern, which is still clear and sharp, is made up of narrow blue lines arranged to form small squares, very typical of Willow Pattern borders. The plain white of the plate shows in a small triangular section at the top. The pendant is finished with a row of little blue and white vintage bead picots, with a larger vintage bead suspended at the lower edge. The mount is backed with grey felt. The pendant is hung by four loops of white beads from a netted rope of white vintage beads with blue accents, fastened with a larger bead and a beaded loop. The hand woven rope necklace is approximately 18" long and the pendant measures roughly 2" x 1.5" including the pendant bead. Fresh and summery a very pretty piece with slightly Victorian look.
