Location

The location for your proposal should be somewhere that means something to the both of you, so that you can revisit the place and always remember the moment. It could be your favourite restaurant or park but could also very well be your front room snuggled up on the sofa.

Timing

While a lot of people planning to pop the question will wait until the end of the day or evening, you can save yourself a lot of worry if you do it earlier on. A beautifully romantic night of drinks, food and stargazing could easily become a stressful nightmare if you are sweating or worrying throughout the whole event. Instead, propose earlier on so you can revel in the moment and enjoy your night together properly.

No matter how modern and unique you think your relationship is, some traditions die hard – and asking for their family’s blessing is one of them. Whether you do this in private, or film it to show your partner during or after the proposal, there is something about this tradition that is still so sweet. But after all the crying and puffy eyes, make sure to get a few pictures your partner will be happy to have framed or hung in the home.
