Planning a Unique Post- Lockdown Wedding

For many couples 2020 hasn’t been the best year when it comes to wedding planning with many having to postpone their special days to 2021 or beyond. It’s been hard for everyone in the wedding industry but especially for those couples whose lives are currently on hold due to not being able to get married and start the next chapter of their lives. We know how frustrating this time in lockdown has been, but it’s not all doom and gloom! We have put together some of our top tips for planning a unique post-lockdown wedding to ensure that the day is something that you and your guests will remember forever.

This pandemic has made a lot of people re-evaluate not only their lives but most importantly their wedding plans! Many couples were forced to cut their number of guests down to only 15 people for those weddings that could go ahead in 2020; however some have used this to their advantage. This is something that we think many people will take advantage of for a post-lockdown wedding and keep their guests numbers low. There are also added advantages to this, it will cut your overall budget allowing you to spend money in other areas, or perhaps incorporate other aspects into your day that you wouldn’t have considered before.

Live streaming your big day

This is something that many couples embraced in 2020 and is something that you can adopt for your post lockdown wedding. Depending on how restrictions are eased for the wedding industry, this might be a good way to keep those family members who are most vulnerable, part of the ceremony. You can use platforms such as Zoom to send a live link out to your family members who are unable to attend, and they can watch you both say your vows from the comfort of their own homes. You could also ask your photographer or videographer if this is something that they can help with.

Wedding photos

Capturing a photo of all your guests together is usually a photographers dream and something that many couples love to have as a keepsake. Obviously this will be difficult if some of your guests are unable to attend and are watching a live streaming of your day. A unique idea would be to get your photographer to merge photographs of your guests in attendance, with photos of your guests at home. This might be more difficult than it sounds so speak with your photographer to get their advice on this!

Venue / Location

If you’ve had to postpone your wedding date or even been forced to look for an alternative venue, this might seem stressful at the moment, however you could use this to your advantage and use this time to research alternative venues. There are plenty of venues out there, from grand stately homes, to small intimate venues. You could even look at getting married somewhere completely different that you hadn’t even considered before the pandemic hit.  We think intimate weddings are something that many couples will look to continue even after lockdown is over.

Get creative

Being stuck in lockdown may have brought out your creative side with the extra time spent at home, so you could put this to good use for your wedding day! Why not get creative and make your own decorations or table centrepieces. All those little touches will mean even more, knowing that you made everything yourself, and will make it even more special.

Celebrate family and friends

The lockdown has been difficult for many people and lots of people have felt alone and isolated. When weddings are able to take place again, make sure that you celebrate your friends and family because ultimately these connections are so important. You could create a gift box for each guest to show them just how much you care about them, and appreciate them attending your wedding. This could include unique gifts for each person, and would be a nice little keepsake for them.

Create the ultimate boho wedding

Many venues have the advantage of having beautiful outside areas that you can get married in. Many people will be looking to change their wedding plans to an outside venue as this will give them more flexibility when it comes to possible restrictions in place. It also gives couples the freedom to be more creative and flexible with their day. You could hire a blank canvas space and hire props or even make your own props to create a beautiful boho inspired wedding day.
